PSA 1st Anniversary The PSA 1st Anniversary was held on Saturday, 25 April, 2009 at Pakistan Association Club from 2:30 to 5:30. The Guest of Honour of the program was Dr Ahmad Balal, consul general of Pakistan in Hong Kong. A number of people from different organizations and institutions from various ethnic backgrounds took part in the program, including Capt. Shahzada Saleem Ahmed, the president of the Pakistan Association of Hong Kong. The reception and registration started from 2:30 and the program was begun with Tilawat at 3 o’clock. Mufti Muhammad Arshad, Chief Imam from Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Center recited the verses of the holy Quran and then talked about the importance of education in Islam. Next, Mr. Hafiz Mohammad, the chairman of the PSA, delivered a welcome speech. He expressed his gratitude to all the participants for their attendance. He especially appreciated the attendance of Dr Ahmad Balal and Capt. Shahzada Saleem Ahmed. Then he conveyed his thankfulness to all the institutions and organizations which have cooperated with the PSA over the year. He also thanked the Volunteers Group of the PSA for their volunteering services. Finally, commenting on the contribution of the PSA Executive team, he said that despite all the Executive members have fulltime employment, part time studies and families to look after, they have devoted their evenings, dedicated their weekends and sacrificed their holidays for the mission of the PSA and that he had no words to express his genuine gratefulness for their efforts to uplift the educational status of our brothers and sisters. After that, a podcast prepared by volunteers was shown. Audience seemed to enjoy it. Next, Mr. Hafiz Mohammad, informed the audience about all the activities the PSA had held over the year through a slideshow presentation. After the presentations, Mr. M. Abbasi Ibrar, briefed the honorable guests about the future plan of the PSA. He said the PSA will target students from different schools and then organize them in different groups according to their interest.
Next, Capt. Shahzada Saleem Ahmed, was invited to say words of encouragement. He praised all the work PSA has done for the past one year and said that the thing he liked about the PSA members is that they are open to the suggestions from other people and organizations. He also assured full cooperation from the Pakistan Association of Hong Kong in moral, venue arrangements and financial areas. After that, certificates of appreciation were presented to the PSA volunteers and the Executive members with the outstanding contribution to the PSA. Capt. Shahzada Saleem Ahmed, Ms Lau, Dr. Anwar-ul-Haq and Hafiz Muhammad Naseem presented the certificates to volunteers. Rizwan Ullah, the educational officer and advisor received the certificate of commendation for outstanding contribution to the mission of the PSA. Wajid Hussain also received the certificate of commendation for developing the PSA website and maintaining the accounts. After the certificate presentation, H.E. Dr Balal Ahmad delivered the keynote. He stressed that young people must respect their parents and that they should pay attention to their studies. He highlighted the importance of the education and said that if the young people were to succeed, the only way is higher education. At the end of the program, Hafiz Naseem Khan prayed for the success of the PSA and the Muslim youth in Hong Kong and worldwide. After the Dua, the program was concluded with the refreshments.
